Blanche Harbour

The picturesque area is very special as it is one of the few places on earth where the desert meets the sea. The fauna and flora found here characterise the unique nature of the Australian Outback.

Blanche Harbour – Douglas Bank is one of three aquatic reserves in the upper Spencer Gulf established to protect important samphire, mangrove and seagrass communities and associated fish nursery breeding areas.

Further along the Shack Road you will find a picnic area complete with a table, chairs and interpretive signage - a charming place to simply relax and watch the water.
